This Saturday 28 November, it’s time to celebrate a return to live music events with a gig at the Armatree Hotel.
Multiple ARIA Award-winning country singer Adam Harvey will be headlining, supported by Oberon-born musician Clancy Pye.
The gig is a part of the Great Southern Nights event, a NSW Government and Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) initiative to bring 1000 COVID-safe live music performances to NSW in November for Australian Music Month.
Headliner Adam Harvey, 8 time Golden Guitar winner, wrote ‘Highway Number One’ about the joys of being on the open road.
Speaking on the track, Adam says, “I’ve toured right around the country, across it, up and down it, every which way you could possibly go and I’ve been lucky enough to do that for over 20 years.
“There is a feeling of freedom when you’re constantly on the move, it’s really amazing and very addictive. I thought if I write a song about it, it might connect with people on the roads, it might also encourage people to take the leap, buy the caravan and explore this amazing country as you travel along Highway Number One”.
Support act Clancy Pye picked up her first guitar at age six, and has played at country music events around Australia and internationally.
She recently released her debut EP, featuring singles ‘Get Lost’ and ‘Heaven Can’t Wait’, which audiences will have a chance to hear live on Saturday.
The Armatree Hotel will provide food from a food truck, including burgers and fries.
With warmer weather predicted for the weekend, Armatree Hotel Owner Ash Walker says there will be plenty of ways to beat the heat.
“There’s plenty of shade in the backyard, we’ve got an undercover beer garden and of course there will be plenty of cool refreshments,” Mr Walker said.
“Gates open at 3pm but the music will begin a little later. Clancy Pye plays at 6pm and Adam Harvey will be on at about 8pm.”
The event is also the perfect opportunity for harvest workers to kick back.
“I really do believe that because harvest has been such big year, and quite drawn out for most people, people are probably tired and need that break,” said Mr Walker.
“Given the extreme weather predicted, it’s an opportune time to take break for half day, sit back, catch up with friends and family and have that little reset we all need,”
