Local croppers have told The Coonamble Times that proposed rule changes for the widely-used agricultural chemical paraquat will make it unusable.
A review released in July by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) said it does not support paraquat use in fallows via sensor-based, or ‘optical,’ spot spraying.
The review also recommends reducing use via boomspray from 2.4 litres per hectare each season to 0.9 litres.
