All retailers and wholesalers in New South Wales who wish to sell tobacco, or non-tobacco smoking products, now must apply for a licence as part of the NSW Government’s Tobacco Licensing Scheme.
The new tobacco licensing scheme came into force on Tuesday 1 July, with the aim of reining in the rampant spread of black market products.
It comes after a business in Coonabarabran was shut down after an inspection in a joint operation by Warrumbungle Shire Council, police and NSW Health found illegal products.
