More than $2 million in funding has been awarded to community-led projects aimed at helping rural and regional areas better prepare for drought, with communities across western New South Wales among the beneficiaries.
One of the largest grants will support a major resilience program across the Bogan, Coonamble and Warren shires, after Warren Shire Council secured $100,000 to deliver 72 activities over 18 months.
The program will include skill-building workshops, social and cultural events, wellbeing initiatives and targeted support for vulnerable or isolated residents, helping strengthen community connections during dry times.
