Walgett Mayor Jasen Ramien has called for a time out on the recently announced feral pig control program pilot.
At last week’s NSW Farmers Annual Conference, NSW Minister for Agriculture Tara Moriarty announced the pilot which would launch in Walgett and require landholder participation. The Minister said non-compliance with the program will carry fines of up to $220,000 for individuals and $440,000 for businesses.
In a recent council meeting, Cr Ramien called on Minister Moriarty to pause the pilot launch to conduct consultation with council, local farmers, licensed hunters, pest controllers and other effected stakeholders…
