Local families are pondering what's next for Coonamble children with autism after the federal government announced that some will not be covered under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Federal health minister Mark Butler announced in August that, from 1 July 2026, children with mild to moderate autism and developmental issues will move off the scheme and onto the $2 billion 'Thriving Kids' program.
