Hundreds of people came out to celebrate Indigenous culture on Thursday 25 September as part of Coonamble’s annual NAIDOC Day.
Students from the local primary and high schools filled the town’s main street as they marched from the Coonamble Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) building to the sportsgrounds about a kilometre away.
Land Council chair Gloria Fernando said the day is a chance to educate local First Nations people about themselves.
“Our culture’s so beautiful. There’s lots of things on the land like scar trees,” she said.
