Australian beef producers, including in our own district, are concerned that the lifting of import bans on may affect the integrity of the beef industry.
From Monday 28 July cattle reared in Canada and Mexico but slaughtered in the United States will now be allowed into the country.
Local stock and station agent David Chadwick said he didn't believe US beef imports would affect the Australia economy, but felt it could be a biosecurity risk.
