Gular’s gift to Eugowra

12/03/2023 by The Coonamble Times

THE fundraising auction hosted by Gulargambone Bowling Club on Saturday 4 March will see a generous donation to the community of Eugowra.

While the crowd may have been less than what was hoped for amid a busy events calendar in surrounding towns, the spirit of giving was alive and kicking.

“We had some strong and spirited bidding,” said Club Manager Gary Ferguson. “We auctioned 35 items and raised $11,700 so that was a really good result.”

The 35 items on offer were mainly donated by local Gulargambone businesses and community members.

“A handmade patchwork quilt that was unanimously donated by one of our regular caravan park visitors and a portable generator both went for well above their value,” Mr Ferguson said.

“The holiday package donated by Peter and Jackie Dent and a photography session with Kirsty Fisher Photography were both hotly contested.”

The funds will be sent to Eugowra via the Lions Club network.

“It will go to our local Lions Club and they in turn will liaise with the Eugowra Lions Club as we thought that would be the best way as they will know where the money can be best distributed in the community and where the greatest need,” Mr Ferguson said.

“Everybody was very generous,” he said. “I think we did well and it was a good result all round.”
