Coonamble’s Bowling Club travelled back in time on Saturday 20 June for the Disability Luncheon Disco, inviting locals and carers from across the region for karaoke and a boogie.
The 80s themed event brought around 40 attendees wearing bright colours, crazy patterns and hippest accessories to the venue.
The event was run by Coonamble Neighbourhood Centre with a grant from the Coonamble Shire Council.
Cathy Wheelhouse from the Centre said it was great to get everyone together and celebrate the area’s disabled and caring population.

“Everyone had so much fun,” she said.
“The smiles were huge, it was so worth it.”
After lunch and dessert the moment everyone was waiting for finally came.
The winners of the best dressed competition.
It was no surprise that Tommy O’Connor, bedazzled in diamantes, mullet wig and flared gold and black pants won the men’s competition.
It was Jess Crawford who won the girl best dressed award, wearing every colour in the rainbow.
Her tule tutu matched her rainbow knee-high socks, and her bright bandanna.
Right after, Councillor by day and DJ by luncheon, Karen Churchill, cranked up the karaoke, and the locals took the microphones.

From Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline, Shania Twain’s Lets Go Girls!, and Lee Kernaghan’s Boys from the Bush, the singers took to the stage and sung the day away.
The dance floor was filled immediately, with inflatable guitars, maracas, and tambourines in hand while everyone was showing off their best dance moves of the decade.
Mrs Wheelhouse said she was thrilled by the turnout, with some travelling from Dubbo and Narromine for the luncheon party.
Event helper Janice Nichol said “it is the greatest thing to be able to get together and have fun.”
Cr Churchill said “everyone had a fantastic time”.
“It was good to see everyone happy. We have to do this again,” she said.
