Farmers groups have given a mixed response to new laws that will force the nation’s biggest greenhouse gas polluters to reduce their emissions or pay for those emissions by purchasing carbon credits.
The Albanese Government has said the so-called Safeguard Mechanism reforms will help Australia reduce its emissions by 43% below 2005 levels and hit net-zero emissions by 2050.
