Freezing Orange temperatures got the better of shire juniors battling the competition in the NSW Junior Rugby Union State Championships.
The Under 13s juniors played seven games with the Western Plains representative side against teams from Melbourne, Sydney, the ACT and regional NSW on 7-9 June.
Coach Mark Pitts said sleet on the ground made it difficult for the team to play their preferred fast style of footy.
“They were slipping over because the sprigs (boot studs) wouldn’t hold the ground,” Mark said.“It suited the bigger teams with their forwards . . .
