The start is closer than ever for upgrades to the final unsealed section of Tooraweenah Road after Coonamble Shire councillors approved a major construction tender on Thursday 22 January.
Councillors voted unanimously to award the contract to Dubbo-based Maas Group, which has been given 12 weeks to put shovels in the ground.
Construction had been expected to begin in early 2025 after the federal government committed over $18.2 to the project in late 2024.
However, Coonamble mayor Dan Keady said steps involving design, due diligence and "red tape" extended the process . . .
