A former shearing shed on the Lightning Ridge Area Opal Reserve will be transformed into an education, arts and environmental research hub after securing a $150,000 NSW Government Crown Lands grant.
The funding will transform the Wandella Shearing Shed into a purpose-built facility supporting school programs, scientific research, community workshops and creative projects.
The shed sits alongside the existing Wandella Education and Research Hub, centred around a farmhouse already used by school groups, university researchers and community organisations for hands-on learning, environmental education and research activities, including electrofishing and fish surveys…
