THE LOCAL Fire and Rescue NSW brigade had the opportunity to sharpen their skills last week during a visit from one of the state's specialist training trucks, demonstrating their commitment to community safety at a time when Coonamble is facing a critical shortage of on-call firefighters.
The station is currently operating with just nine Fire & Rescue volunteers when, at full strength, fourteen firefighters should be retained.
