Upset over Great Western Highway package

Western NSW businesses west of Lithgow have been left out of the NSW Government’s $3.5 million support package for communities impacted by the ongoing Great Western Highway closure at Victoria Pass.

Western NSW Business Director Vicki Seccombe says despite strong lobbying efforts, businesses across the Western Plains, including freight operators and farmers, will receive no direct financial support despite facing rising transport and fuel costs caused by lengthy detours.

“Western Plains businesses and freight operators are being forced to take much longer routes to get products to Sydney and they won’t receive any support from this package,” Ms Seccombe said…
