History buff fights to keep horse trough in place

Long-time local history buff Angie Little is urging Coonamble Shire Council to leave the town’s historic horse trough exactly where it stands, arguing the landmark is far more than a decorative relic, it’s part of the town’s living history.

Situated at the intersection of Tooloon and Castlereagh Streets, it was moved for a brief period to the Show Grounds, but has generally stood in the same location since the early 1900s, when horses lined the streets and locals gathered outside two busy hotels once located nearby.

However, council is currently investigating . . .
