Calls from Western Plains farmers for greater support to tackle feral animals and invasive species have been echoed in the NSW Coalition’s proposed $300 million biosecurity and invasive species management package ahead of the next state election.
The proposed package includes a feral pig bounty trial, expanded aerial shooting, additional trapping and baiting programs, thermal imaging and drone technology, regional rapid response teams and increased investment in research, while also strengthening obligations on public land managers to control feral animals.
