On 14 July girls from Coonamble Highschool in the NASCA (National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy) program painted windows in the entry way of the Coonamble hospital with colourful Indigenous artworks in celebration of NAIDOC week.
This year's NAIDOC theme was '50 years deadly', inspiring the girls' artistic choices as they freehand painted Indigenous designs of their choosing.
The idea stemmed from long time enrolled nurse at the Coonamble hospital Jillian Thurston.
Jillian, who has worked at the hospital for over 30 years, wanted to get young people involved to create beautiful artworks . . .
