Councils push back against NSW briefing ban

A statewide debate over transparency in local government has reached the Western Plains, with councillors arguing new meeting rules designed to improve openness could instead leave elected representatives making decisions with less information.

Walgett Shire Council has joined other councils in calling on the NSW Government to review the changes, with Mayor Jasen Ramien saying transparency should not come at the expense of informed decision-making.
