THERE’s been a lot of hype in the media in recent months about Foot and Mouth Disease, but there is another exotic disease lurking to our north that probably warrants some attention.
Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is a poxvirus that affects cattle and buffalo.
It has had a rapid spread through Europe and China in recent years, and was found in Indonesia in March 2022.
Worryingly, it is spread by biting insects, and we know that those biting insects can blow long distances, potentially into the north of Australia.
