The Coonamble Show Society has run away with the Australia Day Community Event of the Year medal for their one-night wonder 'A Night on the Town.'
The street party and children's disco held over two separate evenings drew around 460 people, showcased the Plaza Theatre and lit up Castlereagh Street with overhead festoon lights that are now a permanent feature in the main street.
The two-part event was organised to bring Coonamble-ites together after the Society's annual show was cancelled due to an unavoidable scheduling clash with the June rodeo . . .
