ACEREZ apologizes over damage to Indigenous sacred site

The company building the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone transmission line has apologised after an Aboriginal heritage rock shelter was destroyed during construction works on private property.

ACEREZ Chief Executive Steve Masters said the Wiradjuri rock shelter, which had been identified in planning approvals, was “damaged beyond recovery” after protection processes were not fully implemented.

“We are deeply sorry. We apologise without reservation to the Traditional Owners and to the local community,” Mr Masters said…
