The manager of Coonamble's Rural Fire Service (RFS) district says crop fires have increased as harvest progresses but so far the blazes have been quickly controlled.
North West Zone District Manager, Inspector Mark Langham said firefighters responded to multiple blazes in the shire during the week from Monday 10 November.
He said a "multitude" of factors could be involved in the spike.
"It can be conditions on the day.
"Machinery might have a breakdown.
"They might throw a bearing on a machine and it heats up and ignites . . .
