Being woken by barking, snarling dogs and screaming goats is not the ideal alarm, but on Sunday 18 January this was how a Coonamble local was torn from their slumber.
In January two pitbull and kelpie cross dogs broke into a resident's yard and attacked the family's goats, leaving one in a state of shock, another injured and a third beyond help and needing to be euthanised.
The offending dogs have since been caught and removed, but if the death of a pet and a big vet bill was not enough to upset . . .
