This year, community-owned Koonambil are marking 30 years of providing quality aged care for local people, but along with the impressive milestone has come the realisation that without expansion the facility’s very existence may be at risk.
With the backing of his volunteer board, new CEO Lance Payne last week took that challenge to shire councillors, speaking at their meeting on Wednesday 12 August.
He told Council that Koonambil needs to grow in order to remain viable, and that both land and financial support from government are needed to increase capacity.
