The Literacy for Life Foundation (LfL) says at least 66 people in Coonamble need support to fill forms and applications, following a survey on literacy levels earlier this year.
Ten surveyors went door-to-door over three weeks between late January-early February.
They recorded 153 responses from Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
From the group who need support, LfL's Jamie Promfrett said 52 indicated they want to join the non-profit's local adult literacy course.
