Remote communities across the Western Plains are facing another digital setback, with Federal Government funding cuts leaving the Regional Tech Hub weeks from closure.
Run by the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF), the free independent service acted as a one-stop shop for rural residents seeking help with internet, mobile and connectivity issues from Australian-based advisers.
For isolated communities across Warren, Bogan, Coonamble, Cobar and Bourke shires, the closure could leave residents without a critical support service at a time when communications are increasingly tied to safety, emergency response and day to day farm operations…
