Forty years ago, a group of community-minded people organised a gathering under the leadership of Mrs Margot Auld, a Quota member, to welcome new residents to the town and region.
Every year since 1986, a different club or community organisation has had the role of host for the annual evening of introductions for new residents.
Amongst the clubs and their roles mentioned in an article printed in the Coonamble Times, dated 19 March 1986, were:
‘The Rotary Club set up the hall, while the Quota Club set the tables, with decorations . . .
