NEW data from the Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) group has revealed a drastic increase in cigarette butt litter over the past two years.
From September 2020 to August 2021, cigarette butts made up 8% of total litter in waterways across the country.
However, in the two years that have followed (September 2021 through to January 2023) cigarette butt waste has escalated to 15% of total litter.
