Brucella ovis (brucellosis) is a sexually transmitted infection that causes the rams to be permanently sub-fertile or infertile.
As you would agree, this isn’t ideal, as we need them to help produce our lambs!
Brucellosis is a bacterial infection spread ram-to-ram, via different rams mating the same ewe.
The infection localises in the seminal vesicles (glands that produce the fluids that will turn into semen) and testes, causing inflammation or epididymitis.
