This year’s Show will be jumping

FOR many people, dagwood dogs, show-bags and fireworks, all scream Coonamble Show.

For me, it is the horse section. With so many wonderful events on the program, the Horse Section has it all, (although I may be biased). The beautiful hacks & their riders bring the glitz & the glamour, while the showjumping is set to bring the excitement.

Thanks to the AMAZING sponsors, hopefully showjumpers from far and wide will come to contest the $4000+ PRIZEMONEY on offer.

This is a huge amount for any country show and fair to say the Coonamble Showjumping prize pool is one of the largest on offer.

The higher prizemoney seems to be making a difference already.

We opened the nominations at 7am on Monday 1 May and by 8.30am had already received 36 nominations!

This is all thanks to our sponsors, who are ALL local and legends (again, I could be biased).

The $1000 6 Bar is on again, thanks to Grain Corp major sponsorship of $1000. There are two events worth $500 each, plus nine others with excellent prize money.

Cants Home Hardware and Kevin Hunt Carpentry Services generously stepped up again this year.

Other local sponsors are GPS Rural, McKeown’s Electrical, G&T Pennell Transport, The Mobil and Global Village Café.

There are so many sponsors involved to make Showjumping happen, so please check the schedule to see all the wonderful local businesses that have sponsored.

Wonderful local families also support us, not just in the Showjumping but also the Hacking and Rider classes. There is the ‘Sam Johnston Memorial Trophy’ for a local horse and rider combo, so please look out for which local legend will take that Trophy out this year. The Leonard family, The Harrison Family & The Keady Family have all had a long relationship with the Coonamble show.

With such amazing support from the local community, it is easy to see why the Coonamble Show is always such a success; it truly is a local affair with the community coming together to celebrate all that is great in our district. Our wonderful sheep farmers and wool growers. Our beef producers and even our local National winning chicken breeders.

Then of course the Main Arena with all the beautiful horses on show. Horses & competitors will come from far and wide. In the showjumping we have already had an inquiry from Victoria and last year there were competitors from as far as Canberra.

Last but definitely not least, many Local Legends will be polishing their Boots and their Ponies to show our district and competitors from away, just how talented Coonamble riders are, in the Show ring and in the Jumping ring.

Check out the advertisement on page 2 of this week’s Coonamble Times to see some of the other Show highlights and to book your tickets ahead.

See you at the show.
