The next upgrade for the Coonamble Branch Line will be critical in giving local produce access to the proposed Inland Rail, however, the project is yet to materialise and questions are mounting around the delivery timeframe.
The project was announced in February 2023 and comes with a hefty price tag of $24 million, an amount finally confirmed in the 2024-25 budget in June 2024.
The upgrade will allow for both heavier trains and higher speeds.
