The site of the old town rubbish tip at the end of Wingadee Street should soon be in a position to be re-purposed after more than 20 years.
Last year, the landfill site underwent an initial compulsory clean-up after an official clean-up notice from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was issued due to historic contamination from asbestos.
Coonamble Shire Council previously used the former landfill site to irrigate liquid waste in the rare cases when the ponds at the Sewer Treatment Plant were full.
