Two years since she began her studies, Coonamble's Lauren Lane is among the first cohort of graduates to lead the classroom under a state-wide program creating home-grown teachers.
The Grow Your Own Teacher Program selects teachers' aides, known as Student Learning Support Officers (SLSO), for an online course that allows them to continue working in their local school while studying to become a teacher.
Lauren had been an aide for six years at Coonamble Public School (CPS) when she took the opportunity at Charles Sturt University.
