Ovine Bovine Grapevine – Another Dry Week

21/03/2026 by The Coonamble Times

Another dry week in Coonamble with no break in sight.

The restocker market is very strong and we are very lucky to be offloading stock when there are so many areas experiencing a tremendous season.

There has been agistment become available in areas that usually experience very little rain such as Broken Hill, Packsaddle and up north to Winton and Longreach.

If these areas hadn’t had decent rain along with the south the restocker market would be very subdued.

The value of stock today is quite substantial so people are feeding a lot smarter than yesteryear by throwing a bale of hay out every few days.

They have changed over to bunker feeders and feed bins this saves a lot of wasted grain and hay and can put on weight making something saleable later on.

Fuel prices are the general conversation on everyone’s lips at the moment let’s hope everything settles down very shortly because in our industry everything relies on fuel.

Our next Coonamble fat sale is on 25 March – save on fuel costs, sell locally.
