Vodaphone ad sets country customers seething

If you suspected that certain telecommunications providers are not that interested in whether you can connect to their service outside the major centres, one telco’s recent marketing campaign may have provided an answer – and it’s ticked off a major coalition of organisations representing regional Australians.

The launch of a recent advertising campaign by Vodaphone claims their coverage now reaches 98 per cent of the population but it’s their message that “there’s nothing out there” in the areas where their service doesn’t reach that has set the Rural, Regional and Remote Communications Coalition (RRRCC) seething.

Among the RRRCC’s members are the likes of CWA NSW, NSW Farmers, National Farmers Federation, GrainGrowers Australia, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, First Nations Media, Coalition for Remote Health, and the Royal Far West.

The advertisement may have used comedian Ali Wong to share the news, but it seems no-one’s laughing…
