Condobolin paramedic Georgiia Birrer has received a Commissioner’s Unit Citation for Courage from NSW Ambulance for her actions in responding to the Lake Cargelligo shootings on 22 January this year, when four people lost their lives.
Recognising that a colleague and patient needed immediate assistance, Georgiia demonstrated exceptional courage and determination in entering a highly unpredictable environment to assist with clinical intervention for a critically injured patient.
‘You don’t really think about the danger of things at times like that. You just kind of go in and do the best you can to help your colleague. That’s all you can really do in those situations,’’ said Ms Birrer, describing the scene as chaotic…
