Coonamble’s own Amanda Colwell won first place in the ‘Microwave Strawberry Jam’ category in the State final of ‘The Land’ Cookery Competition at the Country Women’s Association NSW conference, held in Wagga Wagga last month.
The surprise came as quite a shock to Mrs Colwell, who didn’t feel her jam was as good as her other category entries, a steamed fruit pudding and an apricot roll, both of which took significantly more time and effort.
