RURAL Australians have watched banking services contract since the 1980s.
Now, a new Senate inquiry into rural banking closures will aim to address the issues surrounding banking in the bush.
The inquiry was brought forward following news of the big four banks fast-tracking closures in rural locations, with 80 branches across the country shutting their doors since September 2022 including branches in Gilgandra and Moree.
