Cobar welcomes 2023 quietly

PHOTO: A fresh morning and a fresh New Year for Cobar’s Park Run at the Newey Reservoir.

New Year’s Eve was mainly a quiet affair in Cobar this year as people recovered from what was a hectic back end to 2022.

The first day of 2023 started off early at around 8am with the Cobar Parkrun and, despite a dip in popularity in recent years, with a beautiful morning at the Newey Reservoir on 31 December 2022 organisers saw an increase in numbers at their event.

“We had 17 participants which included 2 visitors. We’re hoping to bring Park Run to the forefront of people’s mind again. Looking at relaunching sometime in February to hopefully remind people that this great event still exists and to capture any new people that may have settled in town,” Trudy Rogers, Cobar Parkrun volunteer…
