Coonamble High School Girls attend Fashion Week in Sydney

28/05/2017 by Coonamble Times

COONAMBLE High School offers Textiles as a Stage 6 course; six girls who have expressed interest in studying Textiles in Year 12 received a ‘Golden Ticket’ to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia Weekend Edition.

On Friday 19th May, the girls along with Coonamble High Schools’ own Imogen Shipley and Brittany Baker travelled down to Sydney. The next morning, everyone was treated to a lovely breakfast before being taken to the National Art Gallery of NSW where they indulged in the masterpieces and got lost, literally, in the gallery’s many levels. The girls then spent an hour, in Pitt Street where they got to experience the busy city, including some talented buskers. The group returned to the hotel to prepare for the fashionable night ahead.

A train ride and a peaceful walk through the streets of Redfern saw the girls arrive at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, a few photos with the flash cars on display outside and the girls were in. They spent hours exploring and listening to mini tutorials, being taught how to highlight and rock cool hairstyles. They also got to listen to Grazia interviews with models Samantha Harris and Sarah Ellen, hot shot stylists and the ladies behind new fashion label Carver.

After hours of fashion advice, business advice and life advice from big names of the fashion industry, the group joined the audience of the runway. The show was glamorous, eccentric and inspiring,- a bit difficult trying to count the number of models on the runway, – but an experience to remember.

After the show, it was nearing midnight so the girls had a healthy McDonald’s dinner before hitting the hay ready for an early rise the next day to beat traffic to get home.
