Coonamble Shire Council has welcomed the NSW Government’s decision to transfer ownership of Rural Fire Service (RFS) firefighting vehicles and equipment to the State Government, describing it as a significant financial win for local councils.
The State Government is injecting $470 million to overhaul the fleet management, creating regional maintenance hubs, and officially transferring asset ownership directly to the RFS.
