Born in August 2003 and raised in the town of South West Rocks on the NSW mid-north coast, Maddison Trappel grew up with horse riding.
There was less room for it when she moved to the Gold Coast after finishing high school, but the long-time passion remained.
After she completed her TAFE course in nursing, Coonamble family friends the Heaneys suggested she apply for a position at the local hospital.
