After years of community discussion on tackling youth crime, the district now has a diversionary program aimed at supporting some of the community's most at-risk young people.
In July the Aboriginal Youth Diversionary & Development Program (AYDD) was allocated approximately $1.2 million (including gst) over roughly two years for a ‘case managed’ approach for young Aboriginal people aged 10-25 who have experienced, or are at risk of, ending up on the wrong side of the law.
