It promises to be the biggest intake of apprentices and trainees in decades for Coonamble Shire Council.
Council were recently advised they will receive grant funding to recruit six apprentices, trainees, and cadets.
The announcement is a welcome surprise after council was initially advised that funding for training positions would be limited to two per local government area (LGA).
"We decided to go ahead and apply for what we needed," said Acting General Manager Bruce Quarmby. "So we applied for seven and we got six."
