THE automatic weather station (AWS) at Coonamble Airport received a long-awaited visit from a technician 13 October and the faulty rain gauge was replaced.
The 0.2 millimetres (mm) that registered on Saturday 15 October was the first official rain recorded by the Bureau of Meteorology (The Bureau) at the airport site since the 59mm recorded between 1 and 14 August 2022.
The Bureau have advised that a technical fault with the Coonamble AWS rain gauge unit caused the outage.
