In 2021 it took 13 counts to decide on the nine positions on Coonamble Shire Council by transferring preferences.
The margin between the last elected candidate Barbara Deans and the last un-elected candidate Jay Jay Smith was only six votes.
Of the ten candidates distributing a how to vote card recommending preferences, half are going down to five (the minimum number required on the ballot paper), four go down to nine and one to seven.
However if you don’t vote all the way down to 14 you risk exhausting your vote . . .
