AT PRESENT we cannot guarantee when it will rain, but we can guarantee that it will rain again, and with the extended dry conditions, the entire district is now feeding some fodder or grain to livestock.
A high proportion of this feed is likely to be imported from other areas which presents a risk for when it does finally rain.
The greatest “hangover” from the dry times will be the presence of new and existing weeds.
The further risk is that contaminated fodder and grain could contain herbicide resistant weed seeds.
