Coonamble Shire Council has made history with their decision last week to elect two deputy mayors.
Throughout the state this month local governments are holding the required Mayoral elections and, while the position of Deputy Mayor is optional, most councils traditionally opt to fill the position.
However this time around Coonamble has taken the unheard of step of appointing not one but two deputies.
Elections proceeded as usual at the meeting on Wednesday 13 September, with Cr Tim Horan retaining his Mayoral position in a secret ballot.
